Do you sometimes, get a "feeling"...?

(First icicle, the other morning...)

But it's a lazy snow, that's falling this morning (Wed.).  The kind of snow, that you hardly notice, against the grayness and snowy-cover of the early day.  Then, it's pace seems to pick up.  No longer do the flakes seem to fall in slow motion.  Now, they have work to do!  Laying another blanket on the cold earth.
~~~~~~~~
This package!  It took me 15 minutes to wrap.  Too long, of course.  Why this long?  Because I was trying to wrap it so skilfully, to save paper.  Hahhhhh....
~~~~~~~~

You know how that goes!
~~~~~~~~
A waste of time.  More time spent, actually.  More paper used, also...  -moan-  ,-))))
~~~~~~~~

 Silly me...

Did you ever get "a feeling"?  That you should look into something, perhaps?  The other night, I got the "feeling" that I should visit a blog, which I have followed, off and on, for years and years.  I visited and found that there were bits-and-pieces of 'different.'  So glad I listened to, and followed that "feeling."

Full Long Nights Moon...

Source

Tonight is the Full Long Night's Moon...

"The Full Cold Moon; or the Full Long Nights Moon – December During this month the winter cold fastens its grip, and nights are at their longest and darkest. It is also sometimes called the Moon before Yule. The term Long Night Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long, and because the Moon is above the horizon for a long time. The midwinter full Moon has a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite a low Sun."

Snow is forecast here, for Tuesday.
Snow 18 | 12 °F
Snow
80% chance of precipitation
So, will it be viewable?

Technically, it is the Full Moon on Monday night also.  And Mon. night is to be clear.  (As I compose this, on Mon. afternoon) ...

And yes, I could see the Long Night Full Moon, just about straight overhead, last night.  (Mon. night)  :-)

"Then  I would be slap-dashing home,the gravy smell of the dinners of others, the bird smell, the brandy, the pudding and mince, coiling up to my nostrils..."
~Dylan Thomas

The above quote is from "A Child's Christmas In Wales,"
 by Dylan Thomas.

 A simply beautiful filmed version of it, is on DVD.  But the price is now prohibitive.  -sigh-  Which is so sad, because it is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.  I'm glad I got ours, some time ago...

(Read full print version here.......)

Mmmm, a week from today, is Christmas Eve.  -chuckle-  I wonder how many readers, are "done"?  ,-)  I'm not, that's for sure.  Although I know "what" is yet to be gotten/done.

But the "dreaded" wrapping is yet to be done!  Eeeek!  Not much.  We get mainly for the "Grands."  But still, there isssssssssssss wrrrrrrrapping to be done.

I wonder if everyone has one Holiday Task, which they really don't like?  Aren't humans funny?  We say we love, love, love the Holiday Season.  But not each-and-every-part-of-it.  :-))))

Courage, with getting your least favorite part.....  Done!

Yes, we got snow!!!

Yet another Christmas themed "cozy" mystery!   Great Series!  But it should be read, from the beginning.  Each book has a different mystery, but the cast of characters continue.  And you get to love them.  :-)  Here is a link, to a marvelous place, which gives the List of these books, in order.

Yes, we got snow!

Sat. the bird bath fountain looked like this.

This is how it looks, Sunday morning...

"It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it."
~John Burroughs

The barometer did a nose-dive!

Just sticking his pole in the snow, he thinks it's about 12 inches.

The patio...  This morning...

The pumpkin on the patio, on Saturday...

Same spot, on Sunday morning...

See the wee bump, in the middle of this pic?  Left is bird bath fountain and on the right, is the Adirondack chair.
The bump in the middle, is the pumpkin.  :-)

Snow comin'~~~"Party-Party"~~~Old Times

Saturday Night
nt_snow Snow likely. Low 16F. Winds ENE at 10 to 15 mph. 8 to 12 inches of snow expected.

So, that's our weather forecast for Sat. night.  Looks like the Snow Faeries will really be active tonight.  :-))

(Btw, I really don't like "blinging pics," but it is kind-of appropriate, for this post.)

Our Christmas parties duties are over now.  We only had 2 actually.  We were never in the *Social Circuit,*  even when younger.  Now it's just a work party and a Rotary Club party, to attend.

Slow blogging inspiration day today...  So I give you another picture, from a Vintage Blog, I found, while looking for these pic.

These pics are from the '50's and of course, I lived the 50's.  -grin-   The blog author says;
"...... I loved the picture ...... because it has so many awesome things to look at.
1. The decor. 2. The hairstyles on the woman..awesome 3. The nothing but Tinsel Christmas Tree (love!). 4. The very stylish ties on the men."

And I add, look at the lazy-susan coffee table...  The fan over the doorway...  The curtains...  And are those Christmas cards, hung over the doors?  Remember stringing Christmas cards up, hither-and-yon, at the Holidays?  I do!  :-)

Finding Photo Ops~~~Snow~~~Quotes~~~

More picture taking fun...  It's too cold to go out and take pictures...  So I am left with what I can "imagine," inside.  :-)

Yes, this is of outside.  But taken, just opening the patio door and aiming the camera OUT.  ,-)  Put the inside Halloween pumpkin...  Out back.  I can keep taking pics of it, as it goes through the winter.   Sooooo....  Be aware...  You are gonna' see more of this little pumpkin, if you keep visiting here.   -grin-

More pic-taking-fun...  Looking for sparkles, in reflections, in glass.

"Winter came down to our home one night
Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again."
                       ~Bill Morgan, Jr.

Oh, the above quote...  About winter coming...  "Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow"    Oh I love the "word-picture", this paints.  And I could go-off on a tangent of finding pictures, illustrating 'snow faeries' and etc.  :-))))))))))

And then, there is that old poem/song...  "Oh The First Snow Fall Of The Winter..."   That's pretty.

And... "Snow provokes responses that reach right back to childhood."  Andy Goldsworthy

  “Is it snowing where you are? All the world that I see from my tower is draped in white and the flakes are coming down as big as pop-corns. It's late afternoon - the sun is just setting (a cold yellow colour) behind some colder violet hills, and I am up in my window seat using the last light to write to you.”  Jean Webster, 'Daddy-Long-Legs' ......

And last but not least...
"I used to be Snow White, but I drifted."
Mae West
