Snow comin'~~~"Party-Party"~~~Old Times

Saturday Night
nt_snow Snow likely. Low 16F. Winds ENE at 10 to 15 mph. 8 to 12 inches of snow expected.

So, that's our weather forecast for Sat. night.  Looks like the Snow Faeries will really be active tonight.  :-))

(Btw, I really don't like "blinging pics," but it is kind-of appropriate, for this post.)

Our Christmas parties duties are over now.  We only had 2 actually.  We were never in the *Social Circuit,*  even when younger.  Now it's just a work party and a Rotary Club party, to attend.

Slow blogging inspiration day today...  So I give you another picture, from a Vintage Blog, I found, while looking for these pic.

These pics are from the '50's and of course, I lived the 50's.  -grin-   The blog author says;
"...... I loved the picture ...... because it has so many awesome things to look at.
1. The decor. 2. The hairstyles on the woman..awesome 3. The nothing but Tinsel Christmas Tree (love!). 4. The very stylish ties on the men."

And I add, look at the lazy-susan coffee table...  The fan over the doorway...  The curtains...  And are those Christmas cards, hung over the doors?  Remember stringing Christmas cards up, hither-and-yon, at the Holidays?  I do!  :-)

Finding Photo Ops~~~Snow~~~Quotes~~~

More picture taking fun...  It's too cold to go out and take pictures...  So I am left with what I can "imagine," inside.  :-)

Yes, this is of outside.  But taken, just opening the patio door and aiming the camera OUT.  ,-)  Put the inside Halloween pumpkin...  Out back.  I can keep taking pics of it, as it goes through the winter.   Sooooo....  Be aware...  You are gonna' see more of this little pumpkin, if you keep visiting here.   -grin-

More pic-taking-fun...  Looking for sparkles, in reflections, in glass.

"Winter came down to our home one night
Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again."
                       ~Bill Morgan, Jr.

Oh, the above quote...  About winter coming...  "Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow"    Oh I love the "word-picture", this paints.  And I could go-off on a tangent of finding pictures, illustrating 'snow faeries' and etc.  :-))))))))))

And then, there is that old poem/song...  "Oh The First Snow Fall Of The Winter..."   That's pretty.

And... "Snow provokes responses that reach right back to childhood."  Andy Goldsworthy

“Is it snowing where you are? All the world that I see from my tower is draped in white and the flakes are coming down as big as pop-corns. It's late afternoon - the sun is just setting (a cold yellow colour) behind some colder violet hills, and I am up in my window seat using the last light to write to you.”  Jean Webster, 'Daddy-Long-Legs' ......

And last but not least...
"I used to be Snow White, but I drifted."
Mae West

In need of warming... :-)))

My sleepy little Mouse, which I've had for a long time.  Awwwww, I think  he is just so cute.  And he reminds me of a favorite Christmas Time book....

"Mr. Willoby's Christmas Tree."

This may well have been a book, which I first learned of, on the old tv program "Captain Kangaroo."

Now there is "an old chestnut."  ,-)  Yes, I'm so "olden," that my kids watched "Capt. Kanagaroo"!

Oh I am so cold.  No, it's not really cold in our house.  My saying is; "I'm too old to be cold."  But still, it seems to be a state of mind, with me.  So I sit here with my afternoon coffee...

...in a pretty white scalloped tea cup....  And open up my "Flower Fairies of The Winter" book.

Who would not be warmed, by The Song of the Holly Fairy?

And look how cozy and sweet, is the Fairy illustration, of The Song of The Old-Man's-Beard Fairy...  Don't you just want to cuddle him, and sing him a lullaby....?  :-)

And look at the precious Christmas Tree Fairy!

"A dolly-fairy stands on top,
Till children sleep;  then she
(A live one now!) from bough to bough
Goes gliding silently.
O magic sight, this joyous night!
O laden, sparkling tree!"

There!  That's better!  Between my warm cup of afternoon coffee, and precious Flower Fairies of the Winter, I'm warmed up now!  :-)

Blogging theme questions...

Searching again, for blogs which love/display magical thinking and whimsey and faeries, etc.  Really the only one I have found, which balances out all these things...  Is Cielo's.  I first found her "The House In The Roses" blog, and loved it.  She has moved and now writes in "The Here And Now" blog.

Faerie lights

Her way of blogging is the best example, of this.  And hers, seems to be about the only example of what I love.  -sigh-  Am I the only one, who just loves her blog(s)?

No, because people comment in her blogs.  But does anyone else, want to write/picture a blog, in a (somewhat) similar way?

Yes, I do.  But I'm not nearly so talented.    I try.  Without anywhere near her success.  But, I do try.

Are there others out there, like me?  Who love these aspects of blogging?  And if so, why haven't I found them?

Are there any others, who would love to even try, but don't?

Frost ... Last harvest ... Yarn ... Etc.

Down into the 20's last night.  (Sun. night to Mon. morning)  The 'Frost Faeries' did the little Bird Bath Fountain.

But I think 'Jack Frost' himself, painted my neighbor's garage roof.   That looks like it was done, in too broad brush strokes, for wee little Faeries.  :-)))

Chippy must have his nest ready and waiting for him.

A typical sight, from all the rainy weather, we were having, last week.  Happily, it seems to have gone away.  This morning..  (Mon. morning)   the barometer can't hardly go any higher!!!

My mother sewed beautifully.  I sewed a little.  Never knitted though.  ..........  My mother-in-law was a fantastic knitter.  She taught our daughter to knit, when she was 7 years old.  And she never forgot. ..........  She knits, knits, knits...  And spins her own yarn.  And even does lace.

I finally asked her  (my daughter)  to teach me...  She was kind of amazed!  Brought me over  (she lives just 2 doors over...) some yarn and needles, and taught me.  I poked away at it.  Yesterday we went to a local yarn shop and I picked out a pretty color yarn and bigger needles.  :-)))))

This picture was taken of my "goodies," on my favorite chair.  See the colors?  You can see my color preference.  :-))))

Another example of our now gone, rainnnnnny weather.

Sat., son next door, was cleaning out their gardens...  The 2 smallest "Grands" brought over some fresh-picked-carrots.  :-)

Our 15 year old Granddaughter, will not eat candy.  She is concerned about what she puts into her body.  She loves volleyball, goes to the gym with her aunt, and I think that is soooo dedicated and wonderful.

And she is still a "girly-girl", with a cute boyfriend!!!  :-)

Autumn... "In a bottle".... ,-)

Beautiful berries...

A good-sized-rock, at the beginning of a path...

Colors of Autumn...

A tree stump, along the path...  Scattered with fallen leaves and pine needles.  I've heard-tell those pine needles make lovely mulch for plants, over winter.  They look warm-and-cozy, just to view pine needles, don't they?  :-)

Gorgeous...  But why so many, still on the tree?  Are they poisonous, I wonder?

Crystal clear sky...

Wild progression of color changes, on one scrub bush...

Vine variations...

Husband, going out for papers, reports frost on the car.  Seems the Frost Faeries, managed that much.  :-)  But  the flowers have not really been painted with silver sparkles, yet...

Yet!
