Yes, we got snow!!!

Yet another Christmas themed "cozy" mystery!   Great Series!  But it should be read, from the beginning.  Each book has a different mystery, but the cast of characters continue.  And you get to love them.  :-)  Here is a link, to a marvelous place, which gives the List of these books, in order.

Yes, we got snow!

Sat. the bird bath fountain looked like this.

This is how it looks, Sunday morning...

"It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it."
~John Burroughs

The barometer did a nose-dive!

Just sticking his pole in the snow, he thinks it's about 12 inches.

The patio...  This morning...

The pumpkin on the patio, on Saturday...

Same spot, on Sunday morning...

See the wee bump, in the middle of this pic?  Left is bird bath fountain and on the right, is the Adirondack chair.
The bump in the middle, is the pumpkin.  :-)

Finding Photo Ops~~~Snow~~~Quotes~~~

More picture taking fun...  It's too cold to go out and take pictures...  So I am left with what I can "imagine," inside.  :-)

Yes, this is of outside.  But taken, just opening the patio door and aiming the camera OUT.  ,-)  Put the inside Halloween pumpkin...  Out back.  I can keep taking pics of it, as it goes through the winter.   Sooooo....  Be aware...  You are gonna' see more of this little pumpkin, if you keep visiting here.   -grin-

More pic-taking-fun...  Looking for sparkles, in reflections, in glass.

"Winter came down to our home one night
Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again."
                       ~Bill Morgan, Jr.

Oh, the above quote...  About winter coming...  "Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow"    Oh I love the "word-picture", this paints.  And I could go-off on a tangent of finding pictures, illustrating 'snow faeries' and etc.  :-))))))))))

And then, there is that old poem/song...  "Oh The First Snow Fall Of The Winter..."   That's pretty.

And... "Snow provokes responses that reach right back to childhood."  Andy Goldsworthy

“Is it snowing where you are? All the world that I see from my tower is draped in white and the flakes are coming down as big as pop-corns. It's late afternoon - the sun is just setting (a cold yellow colour) behind some colder violet hills, and I am up in my window seat using the last light to write to you.”  Jean Webster, 'Daddy-Long-Legs' ......

And last but not least...
"I used to be Snow White, but I drifted."
Mae West

"Yes Gabriel, there will be a little train, around "Pop's" Christmas Tree..."

We seem to have the perfect Holiday Time Snow.
Just enough to cover a bit.
But not so much, to disrupt much.  And since it's stayed c-o-l-d, what little we got, has stayed.  Making a pretty cover...  I really love to have a bit of snow cover, at Christmas/Yule time.

Today is hair trim day.  I think I will "abandon" the Pixie cut, and go all the way (back) to the Judi Dench cut.  ,-)  But if I do, I must wear it with Attitude.  -chuckle-  I've done it before.  I can do it again!
Remember "Elves With Attitude" from "The Santa Clause" movie?
("We're your worst nightmare, Elves With Attitude.")
Or, if you prefer, you can think of...
...THIS Elf With Attitude.  -giggggles-

"There is no ideal Christmas; only the one Christmas you decide to make as a reflection of your values, desires, affections, traditions."  ~Bill McKibben

Photo Phunnnnn....  Trying to get pics of faerie lights, which appear diffused and fuzzy.

Guess what?  There will be a toy train, around the Christmas tree!  We got another one.  After all...  When one is 80, they should have a working toy train...  To share with their 3 year old GrandSon, next door.  :-))))))

More kind-of-diffused light from faerie lights...

This and that, from Friday...

More faerie lights!!!!!  :-))))))

Actually saw geese going over, Fri. morning.  But, typically, I didn't get good pics.

Dairy, in a glass bottle!  Which you return to the store, for your refund.  Isn't that super?!?!?   Actually, this is "1/2 and 1/2", which I got in the Healthy Living Store.

Yes, I'm *unnecessarily* happy, over it coming in a glass bottle.  -grin-   But then, I'm old enough to remember when milk was delivered to our front porch, in glass bottles.  And in the winter, you had to be sure to bring it in, before it froze.

Or the cream on top, would rise right up out of the bottle, "carrying" the little paper cap up, with it.  -grin-

Before the tree can go up, on the little table, the toy train set has to be installed, around it.  And it's never easy to do!!!!  Poor husband was working on that, on Friday.   -chuckle-  And anything around here, is "fair game," to be a "Photo Op"!!!

I've been wanting a candle, without flame.  Finally got one.  Guess I'm not quite as excited about it, as I was, before getting it.   Isn't that often the way with things.....?

Also got the little fake mercury glass candle holders.  Looking into them, is pretty...  So I don't want to put sea salt and candles, into them!  Then I couldn't look down into their pretty "insides."

And here, I played with the ap which comes on my computer...  And made the picture sort of fuzzy.  Just for fun........  I love photos of faerie-lights-which-look-fuzzy...  They make it easier to think of little dots of light, being faeries....

In the summer, we have fireflies.  (To think of, as faeries)  In winter, we have faerie lights.  But if fireflies are summer faeries, Dec. lights must be winter faeries.  :-)

Dec. 2nd... Some old... Some new...

I so loved some of these Christmas Holiday store displays, downtown...  That I use these photos, again and again.  (Sorry, to anyone who has seen them before...  -grin-)  I really have to take photos of downtown, this Season...

These first two pics are of a down street toy store, called "Geewillikers"...   (And it's an example of taking a photo, with lots of reflections, caught in the glass.   I love this kind of pic.!)

This toy store decorates beautifully, all year long.  But at Christmas Time, they go-all-out, naturally.  This is where one goes, to get old fashioned toys.  Not the latest flashing-plastic-whirrrring-monstrosity.  -grin-

Doll houses, and theaters, and knights/castles, and cuddly toys, and dolls-dolls-dolls, and, and, and....   :-))))

And this was a toy train, set up in a liquor store window display.  Reminded us of the toy train, which my husband has set up around/under our little Christmas Tree, for a few years now.  Our youngest "Grand" lives next door, and he loves to come over and watch the train...

He has been content to flop-down on the floor and just watch, watch, watch the train go "round and round and round."  He's 3 1/2 this year.  Hope he still doesn't want to disrupt it.  Nope!  He will not get away with that!  Just hope he is still calm enough, to watch it.

It sort of "disappears," when it goes around behind the tree table, so that makes it a bit more interesting....  :-)

More of those delightful old fashioned illustrations!

We know that life was harder, back then.  We know that illustrations show an idealized version of life back then.  But still, they call to us and draw us in and make us kind of wish that we could have experienced that olden life...  Aren't we humans, funny?!?  :-))))

Steadily moving, farther into the year...

I try to *capture* pics of the little birds, scratching for seeds, out on the back patio.  They are precious to watch.  But I don't do so well, with photographing them.

Another year's bitter sweet, out back.  I love this pic, so I am using it again.

Ahhh yes, it's baking time.  Actually today, I have to make my husband an Apple Pie.  All for himself.  ,-)  Next weekend, I'll make one, for son next door and family.  Then on Thanksgiving, I have to take one, over to other son's home....  For family Thanksgiving dinner.

And the sad thing is, I hate making Apple Pies.  -moan-  They have to have my home made crust, and it's a wee bit of work.  :-)

This is another year's mantle...  Since I still have Halloween decorations up, and it's really time, to take them down, what to do next???  This Lady Pilgrim, carved by my husband, years ago, fits.  Now I have to find her and dust her off, for this year.

Just another light-shadow.  When I notice something like this, I run for my camera.  :-)  'Cause they are interesting.  And it's always good, to have some random photos, to post.
